hello! this is a fine art photography community that has been created to serve my photo students.
participation here involves MORE than posting your images and getting feedback. it also involves looking carefully at, and responding constructively to your community mates!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR SNAPSHOTS OF YOUR NEW KITTY ON YOUR FRIDGE!!
post your "fine art photography" HERE!!! in other words, consider this place the fridge-equivalent for your artwork! what do i mean by "fine art photography??" most of you already know, if you're confused, here we go:
TECHNICAL: is the work properly crafted, your files should be digitally cleaned, properly balanced for lights and darks, etc.
FORMAL: does it look like you thought about where the junk IS in the frame? does your work lead the viewer's eye around the frame? what about the quality of light? what about the relationships between objects in the frame/how yo? if there is a foreground and a background, does it look like the background has been integrated and is a necessary part of the image? Does it look like you thought about cropping, symmetry/asymmetry/balance? What sorts of forces unify the image? Repetition of form? Framing devices? How do the lines cut the frame? How’s yourTexture? Shape? Size relations? Etc.
1. only post one image at a time.
2. each JPEG image should be no bigger than 600 in any direction (at 72); smaller is ok...too small and we can't see it!! :)
3. the maximum # of photographs that ORIGINATE from you = five/week. other than that you can post as much you want, in fact, please feel free to engage each other in conversation about the images you see. and feel free to engage in any topic relative to photography. topics that are fair game include: &hearts - information on gallery seeking &hearts - questions on presentation &hearts - thoughts about media &hearts - etc. :)
